GTA 6 PC Release Date: Officially Confirmed, Still Undated
✦ Last updated August 30, 2026
Short answer: GTA 6 is coming to PC, but Rockstar has not given it a date. GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, and only on those consoles. Take-Two has confirmed a PC version exists without attaching a window to it, so any "GTA 6 PC release date" you see quoted today is an estimate, not an announcement.

What is actually official
Three things are on the record, and nothing more:
- A PC version is coming. Rockstar and Take-Two have both acknowledged it; neither has published a date, a window, or a store page.
- The console gap is a strategy, not an exclusivity deal. In May 2026, CEO Strauss Zelnick described console players as Rockstar's core audience and framed the PC gap as a quality-and-optimization decision. There is no signed PC exclusivity arrangement with Sony or Microsoft that would explain the delay.
- One official hint points early. Take-Two's president signalled the PC version could arrive before March 2027, the end of fiscal Q4. That is a media reading of earnings commentary, not a promise — treat it as the most aggressive official hint on the table, not a scheduling commitment.

The phrase "confirmed, no date" is the only honest status. Every other number circulating is derived, and we label derived numbers as derived.
Why Rockstar ships consoles first
Rockstar's release pattern is not accidental. Fixed console hardware gives the studio one CPU, one GPU family and one memory budget to optimize against, which shortens the final polish pass. PC is a moving target: thousands of CPU, GPU, driver and OS combinations, plus a settings matrix that has to be validated and a store ecosystem that has to be supported at scale.
That is also why PC versions of Rockstar titles historically arrive with meaningful upgrades rather than a straight port. The extra time is spent on the platform-specific feature set. Until Newswire says otherwise, an undated PC version is consistent with the studio's normal behaviour — not evidence that the release has been cancelled or indefinitely shelved.
The console-to-PC gap history
The two most recent Rockstar flagship releases are the best available baseline. Both shipped on consoles first, and both PC versions landed with substantial visual and performance upgrades.
| Game | Console release | PC release | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | September 2013 | April 2015 | ~19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | ~13 months |
| GTA 6 (console) | November 19, 2026 | Not announced | — |
Applying those two paces to a November 19, 2026 console launch:
| Scenario | Pace applied | Implied PC window |
|---|---|---|
| Fastest recent precedent (RDR2) | ~13 months | Late 2027 |
| Slowest recent precedent (GTA V) | ~19 months | Mid-2028 |
| Take-Two president's hint | Before fiscal Q4 ends | Before March 2027 |
The fastest official hint and the slowest historical precedent are roughly 15 months apart. That spread is the honest answer to "when is GTA 6 coming to PC" — anyone quoting a single date with confidence is guessing.
Announcement windows worth watching
Rockstar does not pre-announce announcements, but its calendar has predictable beats:
| Window | Date | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| The Game Awards | December 2026 | Highest-attention stage in the industry; Rockstar has used major shows for reveals |
| Q2 FY2027 earnings call | Early November 2026 | First call after launch; guidance commentary often previews platform plans |
| Q3 FY2027 earnings call | February 2027 | Aligns exactly with the "before March 2027" hint window |
| Console launch window | November 19-30, 2026 | Historically the quietest period for new platform news |
The two earnings calls matter more than the show. Take-Two's investor communication is where platform plans get financial framing, and the February 2027 call is the single most likely venue for a PC statement tied to the fiscal-year hint.
How to prepare without a date
You cannot pre-order a PC version that has no store page, and no legitimate retailer is taking PC pre-orders for GTA 6. What you can do productively:
- Track the console launch first. The PC version will be announced after the console build is in players' hands; our GTA 6 release date page holds the anchor date.
- Watch the earnings dates. Our release calendar lists the shareholder meeting, earnings calls and launch milestones in one place.
- Do not buy "PC keys" from third parties. Any listing selling a GTA 6 PC key before an official PC store page exists is either a console code mislabelled or a scam.
- Assume no cross-buy. Nothing official describes a console-to-PC upgrade path, and no current Rockstar title offers one.
For a scenario-weighted view rather than a date range, our PC release predictor runs the same precedent data through explicit assumptions and shows how sensitive the result is.
Common misconceptions
"Sony paid for PC exclusivity." No. Zelnick's framing is about audience priority and optimization, not a contractual block.
"The PC version is day-one and just unannounced." Contradicted by the official platform listing, which names only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
"The leak mentioned a PC build, so it's confirmed." Leaked material is not a source we use, and leaks never establish a date.
"No PC date means the PC version is cancelled." Nothing official supports that. An undated confirmed version is the normal state of a Rockstar PC port roughly a year before release.
FAQ
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Yes. Rockstar and Take-Two have both confirmed a PC version is coming. It has no release date, no announced window and no store page as of our last update.
Has Rockstar announced a GTA 6 PC release date?
No. The only dated platform announcement is the console release: November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
When will GTA 6 come to PC?
Unknown. Precedent puts it 13-19 months after the console launch (late 2027 to mid-2028). Take-Two's president hinted at a window before March 2027, which is faster than either precedent. We treat both as estimates.
Will GTA 6 PC launch at 60fps?
Unconfirmed. Rockstar has confirmed 30fps across all platforms at launch, including PS5 Pro, and has not announced a 60fps mode.
Where will the PC announcement appear first?
Rockstar Newswire and the official Rockstar channels, or a Take-Two earnings call. We update our tracker within hours of any official statement.
Can I pre-order GTA 6 on PC now?
No. There is no official PC store listing. Any site selling a GTA 6 PC pre-order today is not selling an official product.
What we will update, and when
Our tracker logs every official statement with its date and source and flags the difference between official language and media interpretation. When Rockstar announces the PC version, the status line at the top of this page changes from "confirmed, no date" to a dated entry — sourced to Newswire, not a rumour account.
